“Lifting Weights”

With the New Year on the horizon, I hear many people resolving or making commitments to “get fit”. Some are vowing to swap fast foods for healthier options and others are investing in workout gear and athletic shoes to show that their commitment and sincerity.

While it’s admirable to get healthy and physically fit, what are you doing today about the dead weights that are holding you down emotionally? Bad choices in relationships = dead weight. Dead-end jobs = dead weight. Being out of fellowship with God and others = dead weight. Maybe you have items that you can add to this list of things that are holding you down or holding you back. Why not make the commitment to yourself to get rid of everything that is not contributing to your happiness or helping you reach your potential?

Take action now: Meditate on Philippians 4:6, 7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (New International Version)

Embrace this truth: Some “losses” are actually gains…it depends on your perception!
