We are all tied to schedules. We can’t make commitments to others until we check our schedules. We can’t plan vacations until we check our schedules. We can’t take the first appointment offered to us by our doctor or dentist until we check our schedules. Whatever happened to spontaneity? I know what happened! Spontaneity had to be put on hold because it wasn’t on our schedule…
Sometimes I look at all of the obligations that I have and I want to toss my schedule in the nearest trashcan and just go with the flow and live in the moment. Requests from loved ones and friends to get away and spend time together are sometimes put on the back burner because I have so much other “stuff” to do. The older I get, the more I’m beginning to realize that life is really short. I’m making a commitment to delete unnecessary clutter from my calendar and enjoy life.
Take action now: Meditate on Matthew 11:28-30 ”Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (The Message Bible)
Embrace this truth: Don’t forget to live while you’re making a living.
